The project aims to precisely model complex process conditions during milling with tools with free-surface chamfers using ensembles of specialized, data-driven expert models and to interpret their results in an understandable way using explainable AI and large language models. In preliminary investigations, experimental data on tool deflections, vibrations, and deflection effects under varying cutting parameters will be collected to test the feasibility of the approach and create a basis for a planned DFG-funded research project. In the long term, the aim is to develop a transferable modeling approach that explains complex interactions in machining and can be applied to other processes
